Below are the categories for work visa applications to Canada:

Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)

If you’re looking to work in Canada and do not qualify for an LMIA-exempt work permit, obtaining a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is essential. This assessment allows employers to hire temporary foreign workers when there is a genuine need. By securing an LMIA, your employer demonstrates their commitment to bringing valuable skills to the Canadian workforce. The work permits backed by an LMIA can be valid for up to 24 months, clearly outlining the conditions of your employment based on the employer's detailed application. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to explore your potential in Canada—contact us today to learn more about the LMIA process and how we can assist you!

Employer-Specific Work Permit

An employer-specific work permit is a permit that has conditions set by the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). The employer first obtains the LMIA, which is then used in the foreign worker’s application for a work permit. The LMIA contains all the employment conditions that will be reflected in the foreign worker’s work permit.

These conditions typically include:
- The name of the employer
- The duration of employment
- The location of employment (if applicable)

Open Work Permit

An open work permit does not require a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), unlike an employer-specific work permit. You may be eligible for an open work permit if you meet any of the following criteria:
- You are an international student who has graduated from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) and qualifies for a post-graduation work permit.
- You have applied for permanent residence in Canada.
- You are a student who can no longer afford your study costs (referred to as a destitute student).
- You are a dependent family member of someone who has applied for permanent residence.
- You are the spouse or common-law partner of a skilled worker or an international student.
- You are the spouse or common-law partner of an applicant for the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program.
- You are a refugee, refugee claimant, protected person, or a family member of one of these individuals.
- You are under an enforceable removal order.
- You are a temporary resident permit holder.
- You are a young worker participating in special programs.

To determine if you meet any of these eligibility criteria, please contact us.

LMIA-Exempt Work Permit

In certain cases, an employer-specific work permit may be exempt from requiring a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). To obtain a work permit that does not require an LMIA, you must qualify under one of the following categories:

 **International agreements**
 **Canadian interest**
 **No other means of support**
 **Permanent residence applicants in Canada**
**Humanitarian reasons**

Each of these categories contains several exemption codes that describe specific situations where an applicant does not need an LMIA to apply for a work permit.

- Implied status
- Off-campus work
